Privacy policy

This policy explains what information the Global 100 Forum collects, why it collects it and what you can do about it. It applies to forum.global100.org. We have written it in plain language and kept it short, but it is complete.

If you only read

If you only read threads, we do not ask you for anything. We use cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics to count page views and see which pages are useful. It does not set cookies, does not build a profile of you and does not follow you to other sites. Our servers also keep short-lived technical logs, such as the page requested and the time, to keep the forum running and to stop abuse. These logs are not used to identify readers.

If you create an account

To post, you sign in with your email address. We send a one-time sign-in link and code to that address. We store a one-way hash of your email so we can recognise your account, and we use the address itself only to send sign-in messages and the notifications you choose. We do not sell or rent it, and we do not share it with other members.

Your public profile shows the display name and handle you choose, and the posts you write. Posts are public and may be indexed by search engines and quoted by other websites.

If you add a passkey, your device keeps the private key. We store only the public key needed to check your sign-in.

The cookie we set

When you sign in, we set one cookie that keeps you signed in. It is necessary for the service, it contains a signed session value and nothing about your browsing, and it expires after 30 days without use. Readers who never sign in do not receive it. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Notifications

If you watch a thread or someone mentions you, we can email you. You choose which notifications you get, and every notification email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

How long we keep things

• Sign-in links and codes expire after 15 minutes and are deleted.
• Unsent drafts are deleted after 24 hours.
• Rate-limit records are deleted after 7 days.
• Notifications are deleted after 90 days.
• Posts stay until you or a moderator delete them.
• Backups are kept for 90 days and then deleted.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time. When you do, we delete your email hash, passkeys and session, and your posts remain with the author shown as "former member" so that threads still make sense. If you want specific posts removed as well, delete them first or ask us.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@global100.org and we will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours.

Children

The forum is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the bottom of this page and, for significant changes, post a notice on the forum before the change takes effect.
